Hi everyone...
Its been a real long time since my last update here...
I'm really sorry about that... please do apologize me...
So, this time i will share another interesting topic with all of you...
Anaphylaxis (hypersensitivity type 1) and i will explain it with a feature of a patient who was stung by a bee...
Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that occurs rapidly and may be fatal. It can lead to respiratory failure, vascular collapse etc.
This hypersensitivity reaction takes place when a person is already exposed to certain antigen.
*Antigen is an external particle that when enter the body will cause immune response by production of antibody.
In this situation, a person who was stung by a bee for the first time will not face this problem but another bee sting after that may lead to this reaction. This reaction takes place within seconds or minutes after the exposure to the shocking amount of the antigen.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ANAPHYLAXIS IS NEVER RELATED TO HEREDITY.
Now all of you can notice how dangerous this reaction can be. For those who want to know about the mechanism of this reaction, please comment here and i will respond to your request. Shortly, this reaction involves antigen, IgE antibody, mast cells and basophils (their receptors and mediators).
HOW TO MANAGE A PATIENT WITH SUCH REACTION?
Rapid diagnosis, assessment and early initiation of therapy is extremely important.
Next, epinephrine administration should be given to the patient.
Besides, the patient can have additional interventious such as:
-oxygen therapy
-fluid resuscitation
-beta agonists and
-corticosteroids.
One of the chemical mediators released in this reaction is histamine.
Histamine will cause vasodilation, increased capillary permeability and contraction of smooth muscle.
So, another important thing to do in managing the patient with anaphylactic shock is by giving antihistamines.
***Medical advices from doctors and physicians are a compulsory before taking such drugs***
Thats all... thanks for your time..
